Archbishop of York visits Botswana

The Archbishop of York is paying a visit to the Diocese of Botswana this weekend.

Dr John Sentamu was invited to visit the diocese by the Bishop of Botswana, the Right Reverend Trevor Mwamba.

The Archbishop will preach at the diocese's 40th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service taking place on Sunday at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Gaborone.

A large stained glass will be dedicated by the Archbishop in the Lady Chapel in honour of the Anglican Communion.

The Archbishop will also read out a letter of greeting from the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.

Dr Sentamu said: “I am looking forward to visiting the Diocese of Botswana and to join them in their celebrations of their 40th anniversary year. On reaching their 40th anniversary, my message is keep up the good work!”

The Archbishop will be joined by the Archbishop of Central Africa, Albert Chama, as well as Archbishop Khotso Makhulu, Bishop James Tengatenga, Bishop William Mchombo and Bishop Julius Makoni.
