Burkina Faso : Ouagadougou to host 2017 World Day to Combat Desertification
In Burkina Faso, the ministry of environment, climate change and green economy announced that the 2017 World Day to Combat Desertification will be hosted in Ouagadougou from June 14 to 17. This was reported by the Agence de Presse Africaine.
In this regard, a report has already been adopted during a council of ministers. The rallying call for the event is “Our land. Our home. Our future”. It will be presided by Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, Burkina’s head of State.
“The World Day to Combat Desertification is celebrated on June 17th each year. On that day, a particular emphasis is put on the land degradation issue which is one of the world’s most important challenges. Last year, the event took place under the theme ‘Inclusive Cooperation for Achieving Land Degradation Neutrality’,” said the press agency.
