Wilo S.E to Expand its Presence in Ethiopia
The renowned water pumps manufacturer Wilo S.E, a German company is planning to open local representative office in Ethiopia. Willo's medium term plan include opening a subsidiary company and assembly plant in Ethiopia to further market its products.
Jean Olivia Fortia, Vice President Africa Division of Wilo said the visit in Ethiopia to promote its products with potential customers was a part of a greater trip to African countries. The firm stopped over in three West African countries, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria, before its visit to Ethiopia. The company is also planning similar trips to Kenya and Zambia.
“In each African country in our tour, where we will also conduct strategic discussions, we have our country managers,” said Fortia.
Wilo sells water pumps with wide range of wattage used for heating, sewage, drainage, fire fighting and untreated water intake. Wilo which has a presence in the Ethiopian market in the past is expecting to see significant growth in demand of its products because of big infrastructure development projects currently undertaken in Ethiopia.
Wilo was founded in 1878 and produces water pumps for structures such as buildings, water management projects and industries and had a sales volume worth 1.2 billion Euros in 2012.
