Gabon: Last steps towards national dialogue
The road map of dialogue proposed by Gabonese president, Ali Bongo Ondimba is becoming clearer.
After the post electoral violence in August and September last year, the Gabonese president says his doors are open for dialogue.
The final report of the preparatory work launched on February 15, was adopted on Monday and is expected to be summited on Wednesday to Ali Bongo Ondimba who will then decide on the date for the opening of negotiations.
The dialogue is expected to last for close to a month in three phases.
Th population will be interviewed during the first phase before the opening of the second phase which will bring together 75 delegates from the various political camps of the country.
Jean Ping, the main opposition candidate during the last presidential election has refused to be part of the dialogue after contesting the results of last year’s presidential election on fraud allegations.
