Legendary Ghanaian coach Herbert Addo has passed away at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after battling a short illness. Herbert Addo’s health had been deteriorating and was recently admitted at the Emergency Medical Ward. Herbert Addo is reported to have died around 11 am on Friday. He was 65. Addo coached the Black Stars in 1980. Herbert Addo won the league title with Asante Kotoko (1988), Goldfields S.C now Ashgold (1994/95 and 1995/96), Accra Hearts of Oak (2002), and Aduana Stars (2010). Ghanaian referee Joseph Odartei Lamptey was on Monday banned for life by world football's governing body FIFA for match fixing.
