Black Stars players receive $5,000 match bonus
The Ghana Black Stars have been paid $5,000 each for beating the Wiala Antelopes of Ethiopia 5-0 in their AFCON 2019 qualifier in Kumasi last Sunday.
Local media reports on Wednesday said that Deputy Sports Minister Puis Enam Hadzie disclosed that the figure was the new winning bonus agreed after a roundtable discussion between the Ministry, Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Black Stars Management Committee.
The bonuses were slashed from $10,000, following complaints from a section of the public and the ministry.
He praised the soccer fans, who turned up in their numbers to rally behind the national team.
The issue of player bonuses became very thorny after the 2014 World Cup, where appearance fees of $100,000 were air-lifted to Brazil, following protests by players for non-payment of appearance fees
