Lesotho swears in new Prime Minister
Thomas Thabane was officially sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Lesotho in Maseru on Friday, APA can report. Thabane took over from the outgoing prime minister Pakalitha Mosisili, after Mosisili’s party and its coalition allies suffered a blow in the 3rd June elections.
Thabane is leader of the All Basotho Convention, which received the most votes in the election, but did not win an outright majority to form a government on its own.
Thabane has promised to address, as the new Prime Minister, unemployment, HIV/AIDS, health and crime as top on his agenda.
Mosisili did not make a speech at the ceremony, but handed to Thabane the national flag and a copy of Lesotho’s constitution.
