The wife of Lesotho’s incoming prime minister, Tom Thabane, was shot dead Wednesday night, a day before his inauguration, Power FM reported. Dipolelo Thabane was shot when entering her home, the Johannesburg-based broadcaster reported, citing Samonyelo Ntsekele, general secretary of Thabane’s All Basotho Convention. Dipolelo was Thabane’s second wife, and he currently lives with his third, it said. Thabane is supposed to be sworn into office in the capital, Maseru, on June 16. A coalition of four parties led by Thabane’s ABC won 63 parliamentary seats in the 120-seat National Assembly while the ruling Democratic Congress, led by Pakalitha Mosisili, secured 30 seats.
