Liberia: Pres. Sirleaf Meets Indian Entities, Liberian Students
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has met with executives of a number of Indian institutions, including LABORATE Pharmaceuticals India Limited, and Liberian students in India.
During the meeting with LABORATE Pharmaceuticals India Limited, which is interested in developing and operating a pharmaceutical plant in the country, she encouraged its executives to do a market study or survey, make a proposal to the National Investment Commission about their desire and follow through with all of the requirements laid down for such investment.
According to a dispatch, the Liberian leader assured them that the intent was good and welcomed by the country.
The company's head of international business, Aditya Bhatia, informed President Sirleaf that they were interested in building and operating a plant in Liberia with the guidance of the government and pointed out that the company has the capacity to supply the country and beyond.
Meanwhile, President Sirleaf has met with government's bilateral scholarship students in India pursuing studies in various scientific fields.
She advised the students to study hard, remain peaceful and law-abiding as they undergo their academic sojourn in India.
She assured them of government's continuous support, adding that Liberia needs professionals in the area of the sciences.
Earlier, the students thanked the Liberian government for the opportunity to pursue Masters level studies and acquainted her with other issues associated with their studies in India, the dispatch added.
