The Minister of Finance & Development Planning, Amara Konneh says Liberia has successfully secure huge funding intended to meet demands in energy growth and sector reforms.
He made the disclosure on Thursday when he and the Director of Compact Operations Evan B. freund met with the leadership of the 53rd Legislature to discuss the implementation MCC Compact Project.
The Compact will cover projects in Electricity, Water, road Maintenance, capacity Building and Sector Reform.
The MCC Compact will provide the total of US $ 257 in grant which is expected to be ratified by the Legislature.
The MCC Project is funded by the United State Government.
Addressing the Media following briefing from the Minister and the Compact Director, House Speaker Alex Tyler promised the full cooperation of the legislature in projects that will improve the well being of the Liberian people.
He pointed out that the legislature will ensure due diligence and oversight to guarantee accountability and transparency of the funds.
A Compact implantation unit to be called the Millennium Challenge Account -Liberia is expected to be established by law to manage the project.
