Malawi: Mutharika Emphasizes On Rural Grow Development
Lilongwe — President Professor Peter Mutharika has hinted on the need for the country to embrace rural growth development.
Mutharika was speaking upon arrival from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe where he attended the 34th Ordinary Summit of Sadc Heads of State.
"There were a number of issues that we discussed and one of them is rural growth development which is important for the country," the President explained.
He also said during the summit, the leaders discussed about food security, regional integration as well as gender equality.
Among several tasks, Mutharika handed over the Sadc Chairmanship to Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe and delivered a key note address on various issues that the region had achieved under Malawi Chairmanship.
He left the country on Saturday and this was his first Sadc summit to participate since he ascended into power.
