Mozambique’s president urges national SMEs to take advantage of the Maputo International Fair
The Maputo International Fair is a singular opportunity to enhance cooperation between Mozambique and other countries, said President Filipe Nyusi when opening of the country’s top trade fair on Monday.
Nyusi used the occasion to address small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), urging their directors to seek contacts with foreign companies present at the fair with a view to exporting more Mozambican products.
He highlighted the SMEs’ role in the process of diversifying the economy, stating that the fair was “one more opportunity to expand the market and the reach of national products, internationalise the Mozambican economy, showcase production potentials and increase export diversity.”
“We hope that at this year’s FACIM SMEs can identify and achieve partnerships with quantitative and qualitative gains at the level of technology access, knowledge and boosted capital,” said Nyusi, cited by AIM news agency.
As a multiannual multisector fair, FACIM is able to gather in one space all the country’s economic sectors, making it a privileged meeting place for national and foreign entrepreneurs, he added.
This year’s fair counts the participation of 20 foreign countries and a total of 1,900 exhibitors, 1,600 of them national and 250 foreign.
The 53rd Maputo International Fair (FACIM) is open until 3 September at Ricatla in the Marracuene district of Maputo province. (Macauhub)
