Algeria strongly condemned the terrorist attack perpetuated Tuesday, against a market in north-eastern Nigeria, and reaffirmed its "absolute rejection" of terrorism, said Wednesday the ministry of Foreign Affairs in a communiqué.

"Algeria strongly condemns the terrorist attack perpetuated, Tuesday, against a weekly market in the village of Sabon Gari, located in north-eastern Nigeria, killing 47 people and injuring about fifty others, and expressed its indignation at this horrible, cowardly and barbaric terrorist act," underlined the ministry in the communiqué.

"It also reaffirms its complete rejection of blind terrorism which spares no region in the world," and "is fully committed to supporting the Nigerian people and government in their fight against extremist groups that spread terror among civilians," added the communiqué.

Algeria "also presents its sincerest condolences to the families of the victims as well as its full solidarity and compassion with the Nigerian people and government," concluded the source.
