Can Somalia's president and prime minister resolve their feud successfully without foreign intervention?

Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed on Monday refused to step down despite 14 of cabinet members called him to quit, as the dispute between him and the President grows.

The ministers, who are the President Hassan Mohamoud’s allies, wrote to the Prime Minister on Sunday asking him to leave office.

‘’ The solution is easy; we should obey the constitution and follow what has been stated in it,’’ he said.

Mr Abdiweli called for the ministers to be neutral on the on-going internal crisis.

The disagreement between the President and prime minister had been an open secret among Somalia’s political circles and media since last month after the Prime minister reshuffled his cabinet and sacked a close president ally.
