Minister of Minerals Unveils details of the agreement with the Russian Cyprian Company
Khartoum, August 6 (SUNA) - The Minister of Minerals Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Sadiq Al-Karuri unveiled details of the agreement with the Russian Cyprian Company to explore gold in Sudan.
The minister said, during his address to the State Coordination Council which held its first Session of 2015 in the presence of the ministers concerned with minerals file in the state, that the company discovered huge amounts of gold in two locations using modern technologies, revealing that the company found in the first site 8,000 tons, equivalent to 298 billion dollars, which the government allocated to the company by signing an agreement with it in the presence of the President of the Republic.
Dr. Al-Karuri added that the agreement stipulated that the company begins production within 6 months from the date of the agreement signing. He added that the agreement pointed out that the 38,000 tons have discovered in other site, revealing that the ministry has not yet signed any agreements with any party, explaining that the value of gold discovered in the two sites was 1.7 trillion dollars, considering as the biggest reserves in the world in spite of those he called (the skeptics).
The minister stressed that the Mineral Resources Act of 2015, which is now dominating the rest of the state laws with regard to mining, must not contradict the supreme law.
